Getting the Website/Blog ready to go

Now that I have started getting cellist on board, I needed to get a communication system in place. There is no way that I could call or email 100 cellists, I needed something more efficient. At first I thought of a website, but after talking to a few friends, I started thinking I would start with a blog. A blog would let me post all future rehearsals and a calendar that all cellists, parents and teachers could go to for current information. A blog is something I could do instead of needing someone else to do it for me. A dear friend, Megan Gazaway, offered to help me. She set it up and then spent hours on the phone teaching me how to work it.

Megan set it up with the main blog, My Cello Dream, this blog to post a calendar with rehearsals and current information for cellists. It also has a place that answers frequently asked questions that I have received from teachers and parents. The second part of the blog is more the process of making this dream happen. It can be linked onto from the first blog. I love to journal and have journaled my experiences with this dream of mine. Much of that journal is shared in that blog.

Megan also set me up on a" cello dream yahoo group," so that I could "group email" or "blanket email" everyone the upcoming schedule. Technology is a wonderful thing. This should make communication much easier. Even though all students are not on email, this should help with the majority.

Megan also showed me how pictures make the blog a lot more interesting. I found that to be true. She showed me how I could get a lot of pictures on a google image searches. I found some really great picture there but also decided that when possible, I wanted the blog to be more personal.

Part of my story would be experiences from my home town in Winslow, Arizona. My sister Joyce that lives in Chandler, Arizona was going home to visit my mom the very next weekend. She agreed to get some pictures of the schools we attended for the blog.

I also hired Brianna Dickerson to take some more pictures. I had a certain type of picture I wanted with this photo shoot. Pictures of me with my cello. I wanted pictures of me praying for the story where I got stuck on music and I prayed and it opened up. I wanted pictures of me sitting on my bed working on music, I have spent hours and hours and hours doing that. The pictures I wanted were unique and to fit a story. I was very pleased with the pictures and felt they were exactly what I was wanting. You can see the pictures she took on my blog with her logo on the bottom.

Her cousin Kyle has offered to help me with a website. I have the domain name already, but am putting in on hold until I get this up and going. Thanks for being patient Kyle. Here is Brianna my photographer. You can see more of her pictures on her Blog.
